Goodwoof’s highly anticipated kennel design competition and charity auction returns in 2026, hosted by Kevin McCloud MBE, featuring an exciting new theme and a shortlist of world-renowned architects ready to design and build unique homes for our beloved companions.
Prepare for lift off! In 2026, kennel designers will open the doors to a world of imagination and discovery. With this playful theme, the sky truly is the limit. The final design might be a kennel for a dog to travel into space - alone or with a human companion. It could be an environment for life in space - on a station or as part of a settlement on an alien planet. It might even be constructed from space-age materials or incorporate comforting textures from home.

Each year, the brilliant architects and practices surpass themselves with their ingenuity and originality and I'm very much looking forward to seeing their cosmic creations.
Kevin Mccloud

Now in its fifth year, this one-of-a-kind design competition showcases an inspiring collection of contemporary kennels. Past participants have included architectural luminaries such as Foster & Partners (creators of the Gherkin, Apple HQ, and McLaren Technology Centre), RSHP (behind the Lloyd’s Building, Pompidou Centre, and Millennium Dome), and Marc Newson, the celebrated industrial design visionary.
All kennels are auctioned at the close of the event by Bonhams for Goodwoof's chosen charity Battersea.

All Goodwoof attendees are invited to enjoy the exhibition of kennels in the Barkitecture tent, located in the Duchess Paddock. Here, you and your dog can inspect and test the features of each kennel and judge them based on design, functionality, and—of course—the interpretation of the Dogs in Space theme.
Returning in 2026 is the popular People and Paws Award, where you can cast your vote on your dog’s favourite kennel.
More information on how to vote will be shared soon.
Visit the Barkitecture tent on Sunday 17 May to bid in the live auction. All the proceeds of the auction will go to Battersea, so throw your paddle in the air in aid of a good cause.
Once the event timetable is shared, check when the auction will begin and speak to a member of the staff at the Barkitecture tent on the weekend to find out how to take part.
Months of planning, designing and building the shortlisted kennels will culminate in the thrilling auction. Taking place on Sunday 17 May, Bonhams will auction each design with all proceeds going to Goodwoof's charity partner Battersea. Since 2022, the Barkitecture auction has raised over £62,000 for charity.
The best part of the auction is that anyone can bid—so if you and your pup take a liking to one of these unique kennels, raise your paddle in support of a worthy cause.

The 2025 theme, “From Nature; For Nature” saw world-renowned architects create eleven inspirational kennels which were displayed at Goodwoof in May, with Snowdon Dog House from Lord David Snowdon and The Kings Foundation winning the Kennel Design Award.
