Do you want the wheel-to-wheel action of touring cars, the glamour of ‘60s GTs, or to go back to motorsport's routes with the Edwardian machines that make this weekend at Goodwood so unique? Even that little sample barely scratches the surface of what the 82nd Members’ Meeting has to offer.
That’s where this video comes in. Like an astronaut's space dinner, our Saturday highlights condense a day's worth of racing into a 30-minute easily digestible morsel with all the flavour of watching the lot in real-time.
The action on track kicked off with the beautiful motorcycles of the Hailwood Trophy before the S.F. Edge Trophy brought a similar kind of action with drivers of the aero-engined Edwardian machines hanging on for dear life in cars that don't (and never did have) seatbelts. Touring cars are a safe bet if you want to see racing in its purest form, and Saturday featured no less than three separate races dedicated to our favourite forms of tin top action, featuring everything from Minis to Mustangs.
All of that racing action was interspersed with the usual helpings of demonstrations and parades. Saturday kicked off with a dynamic display of Alpines before a celebration of Gordon Murray Automotive, which incorporated a parade of eight T.50s on track at once before individual demonstrations of the T.33 and the wild T.50s. Nothing, though, pulled on the heartstrings quite like Bruno Senna heading out for a moment at the wheel of his uncle’s race-winning Lotus 97T.
IWC set a different tone, as we got a first-hand demonstration of the filming techniques used in the upcoming F1 film. And one of the more jaw-dropping moments followed as the Cadillac V-Series.R run by Hertz Team Jota set out to complete some compelling laps of the Motor Circuit.
It's a common thread, but there really is too much to cover in a few paragraphs, meaning there is only one thing left to do – grab 25 minutes to watch the highlights. Enjoy.
