Saloon cars provided no shortage of action. At the start of the Whitmore Cup, when the Lotus Cortinas took an early lead, three Minis attacked No Name side by side with only the merest hint of contact as drivers wrestled to tame their buckarooing cars. The Gordon Spice Trophy also provided close racing, this time of the V8-powered kind courtesy of protagonists James Thorpe (Chevrolet Camaro) and Bill Shepherd (Ford Mustang).
Open-wheeled victory was just as hotly contested, and our compilation includes five Formula Junior cars entering the chicane in one go during the Arundell Cup. Sticking with the era, if not the formula, in the Salvadori Cup Bonamy Grimes and Roger Wills battled hard in their evenly matched Lotus 15s.
More modern machinery included the Jota Cadillac V.Series.R taking to the track, the sight and sound of a current WEC Hypercar sure to stay in the memory of spectators for a long time. So will the sound of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 at full chat during the GT3 Shoot-Out. Just for good measure, we’ve also included the video of Andrew Jordan’s winning lap in the Chevrolet Corvette GT3 car.
All that and more appears in our best moments from Day Two of 82MM.
