A field of more than 20 GT3 cars were gathered in the paddocks over the weekend for a series of demonstrations of those early days of the category, but six of them were also taking part in the Shoot-Out, which came to a head on Sunday afternoon.
Rob Huff, who had jumped into the Audi R8 LMS at late notice, was the first out on track for this high-octane, quick fire main event, and set the tone for what was to come over the next ten minutes or so.
The rest of the line-up was completed by Jake Hill in a Ferrari 458 Italia, Andy Priaulx in a BMW Z4, Andrew Jordan in a Corvette Z06.R, Phil Keen in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage and Andre Lotterer in a Porsche 997 GT3 R Evo, and the results were dramatic to say the least.
Seeing such modern machinery being pushed to the limits around the high-speed Goodwood Motor Circuit was exhilarating, as all six drivers dug deep into their wells of talent to get the most out of their cars in low grip conditions.
With only a single warm-up lap to get their prescribed wet-weather tyres up to temperature, adhesion was at a premium as each competitor crossed the start-finish line to begin their Shoot-Out runs.
We won’t spoil the result, but it’s worth watching each of these laps in their entirety to appreciate just how good these six drivers are. We love this Shoot-Out format, the 82nd Members’ Meeting was all the better for it.
Tickets for the 83rd Members’ Meeting will be available for a limited time immediately after this year’s event for Members and Fellows of the GRRC. Admission and Grandstand tickets will go on sale on Monday 14th April for Members, and Wednesday 16th April for Fellows.
