The result? A far wider span of saloon cars taking to the Goodwood Motor Circuit for the Members’ Meeting weekend. From plucky Minis to thundering V8-powered Chevrolet Camaros, there’s a grid for them all. That can only be a good thing, as the saloon cars consistently provide some of the closest racing we see here at Goodwood.
The Win Percy Trophy is a two-driver 45-minute race, and it was the professional drivers who took to the circuit for the second portion of the race. That meant we were treated to some very close racing in the closing stages.
In the end, the battle for first place came down to a straight fight between the rear-wheel-drive Ford Escort RS2000 saloon of Jake Hill and the front-wheel-drive Volkswagen Golf GTI of André Lotterer. No spoilers here – we won’t tell you who came out on top, but we will say it was closely fought, clean racing that could have gone either way. Settle in for a scrap between road-cars-turned-racers.
Tickets for the 83rd Members’ Meeting will be available for a limited time immediately after this year’s event for Members and Fellows of the GRRC. Admission and Grandstand tickets will go on sale on Monday 14th April for Members, and Wednesday 16th April for Fellows.
