There’s nothing quite like a qualifying session to see drivers with their eye fully in, finding clear air to stitch together a perfect lap. It’s the moment when drivers and riders are coaxing their machines to the very limit while attempting to stay just the right side of adhesion.

At the 82^nd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport, the variety of machinery we saw was incredibly broad, from the 1903 Darracq 200hp to GT3 racers from the past decade. In between, there were saloon cars ranging from the 1960s to the 1980s, single-seaters, motorcycles and sportscars from the 1930s to the 1960s.

There are some great names, too. How about Dario Franchitti dialled into an Aston Martin DB4 GT? Or André Lotterer getting the most from a Volkswagen Golf GTI? Then there was Andy Priaulx making a big Chevrolet Camaro look almost balletic as he guided it around Goodwood. The Hailwood Trophy qualifying provided us with knee-down action from Graham Higlett (Triumph T160) and a great display of control from Michael Russell (Triumph Trident).

Tickets for the 83^rd Members’ Meeting will be available for a limited time immediately after this year’s event for Members and Fellows of the GRRC. Admission and Grandstand tickets will go on sale on Monday 14^th April for Members, and Wednesday 16^th April for Fellows.
