Video: Dario Franchitti stuns Members' Meeting crowds in a dramatic GMA T.50s demo

It wouldn’t be a spring weekend in April without a sea of daffodils, or the sound of GMA’s sumptuous 3.9-litre Cosworth V12. Whether it’s in the back of the T.33, the T.50 or the T.50s, that engine is one of the greatest sounding on the planet, and it’s been in full song around Goodwood Motor Circuit on Saturday morning.

Three-time IndyCar Champion Dario Franchitti, who has been involved in the development of all of GMA’s cars, climbed into the driving seat of the T.50s, the car that was launched last year at the 81^st Members’ Meeting, for a series of astonishing demonstration laps. And he was properly on it, stretching the legs of that sumptuous V12, flinging it into the likes of Fordwater absolutely flat out as the 400mm fan generated a monstrous amount of downforce.

It’s one of the unique appeals of the Members’ Meeting, that we get the opportunity to see cars like this pushing the limits of what’s possible around the Goodwood Motor Circuit, and the GMA T.50s epitomised that with a breathtaking series of laps.

But if one howling V12 wasn’t enough, GMA saw fit to reward us with another, as Dario and the T.50s were joined on the Motor Circuit by the T.33, first seen at Goodwood in 2022.

Now that would probably be enough for most people, but Gordon Murray, much like the Duke of Richmond, never likes to do things by halves. This year at the 82^nd Members’ Meeting, GMA is also putting on an unprecedented showcase to celebrate the beginning of deliveries for the company’s original car, the T.50.

Customers are now taking ownership of the T.50 that was first revealed at the 78^th Members’ Meeting back in 2021, and eight of those cars made it out onto the Motor Circuit for a stunning parade on Saturday morning. It was a big moment for GMA, one that heralded the marque’s arrival as a successful car manufacturer.

In anticipation of this moment on the Motor Circuit, The Duke of Richmond CBE DL said: “We are delighted to welcome Gordon and his team to the Members’ Meeting for the fifth consecutive year.”

“Our guests always look forward to seeing the iconic and unique cars Gordon has designed up close, and having witnessed the debut of the T.33 Spider and T.50s in recent years, the on-track moment will be nothing short of fantastic.”

Away from track action, GMA will have a substantial presence around the Members’ Meeting site this weekend. Members of the GRRC will have the opportunity to get up close to both the T.50s and T.33, while a separate display in the paddocks will showcase the extraordinary near-60-year timeline of Gordon Murray’s work in design and engineering.

All of this will take place among a packed Members’ Meeting schedule that will include a celebration of Ayrton Senna’s first Grand Prix win, which will see the car he drove to victory at the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix sent out on the Motor Circuit for a series of emotional laps in the hands of Bruno Senna.

Also planned are demonstrations of Hertz Team Jota’s new Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercar, and what’s bound to be a dramatic inaugural running of the GT3 Shoot-Out.

Tickets for the 83^rd Members’ Meeting will be available for a limited time immediately after this year’s event for Members and Fellows of the GRRC. Admission and Grandstand tickets will go on sale on Monday 14^th April for Members, and Wednesday 16^th April for Fellows.
