There’s the distinct feeling that this is the calm before the storm. Crisp morning air fills the paddocks as the first of the cars are being cajoled from their overnight slumber ahead of the opening day of the 2025 Goodwood Revival.
Today’s event programme is largely populated by Official Practice sessions, which will see everything from saloons to Formula 1 cars, motorcycles to sports prototypes circulating the Goodwood Motor Circuit in the hopes of securing a pole position, or at least a spot on the front row of the grid. By the end of the day, we will also have had our first race of the weekend with the 60-minute Freddie March Memorial Trophy running into the sunset.
But all of that is yet to come. Right now, mechanics are preparing and preening the cars for a day of fierce competition. Meanwhile, drivers and riders are limbering up behind the scenes, their number including a who’s who list of touring car icons, F1 champions and Le Mans winners.
For the keenest spectators who have already arrived, it’s a chance to soak up the atmosphere before the action starts. Their period outfits are already contributing to the timewarp scene that is unique to the Revival.
The venue is coming to life for day one, with visitors and participants alike full of anticipation for the days ahead. And even if you’re not able to be here in person, you can keep up with all the track action via our live stream.
