Jimmie Johnson and Scott Dixon are set to switch Indianapolis for Goodwood as they make their historic racing debuts at the 2022 Goodwood Revival on 16th-18th September.

Johnson, who retired from NASCAR competition at the end of the 2020 season, finished his full-time career with 83 race wins, 222 top five finishes and 35 pole positions from 686 top level races. After ending his stock car career, Johnson moved to IndyCar and qualified inside the top 12 for his first ever Indy 500 this weekend.

New Zealander Dixon’s record of six IndyCar championships puts him only behind A. J. Foyt in the all-time standings, while his record of 51 victories across 21 seasons puts him third behind Foyt and Mario Andretti. Dixon was also a long-time Chip Ganassi Racing team-mate to Franchitti during the team’s most dominant period, during which he added his to-date only Indy 500 victory to his glittering trophy cabinet with victory in 2008.

They'll be joining fellow US racing legend, and now Goodwood regular, Dario Franchitti at the Revival in 2022. Franchitti made an emotional return to racing in 2019 following his injury-enforced retirement from motorsport following an IndyCar crash in 2013. The same year, four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon made his debut at the Revival, taking part in in an emotional tribute to Sir Stirling Moss.

The three drivers will be put to the test around the fast and flowing Goodwood Motor Circuit in two of the Revival’s most exciting and crowd-pleasing races. Firstly, there is the St. Mary’s Trophy for VIP drivers and owners. A two-parter, the St. Mary’s Trophy will this year focus on 1960s saloon cars.

Then there is the biggest race of the Revival weekend – and one which famously pits European engineering against American muscle – the RAC TT Celebration. Jaguars versus Ferraris vs.Cobras give no quarter in one of historic racing’s most famous competitions.

More details about the cars that the three will race in are set to be announced over the coming months as well as details of more drivers set to join them on the grid. Tickets are already limited so make sure you visit ticketing.goodwood.com as soon as possible for more details.
