Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy highlights

It wasn’t easy to predict who would win the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy. For one thing, three different marques made up the first two rows of the grid with a flyweight Lotus Elite keeping Ferraris and Jaguars honest.

Then there’s the fact that, at 45 minutes, the race is long, and it runs into the darkness at the end of day one of the 2026 Goodwood Revival. Add in a mid-race driver change and the win really can go one of many different ways. One thing you can be assured of with these highlights however is a fierce battle as the sun sets across Goodwood.

Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy Official Practice 

The grids are officially set after an excellent qualifying session for the 1960s GT cars. The action kicked off early when the Scott Dixon and Nick Maton Jaguar E-type carried too much speed into a corner and slid wildly onto the grass before making a brilliant recovery. Meanwhile, Chris Harris and Richard Kent put on a masterclass in precision, holding onto the coveted pole position placeholder for the upcoming race. They faced stiff competition from the iconic Ferrari 250 GT SWB/C of Yelmer Buurman and Alexander van der Lof, who kept the pressure mounting. 

Drama intensified across the grid when Rob Huff, piloting the infamous ‘CUT 7’ Jaguar, suffered a dramatic misjudgement and went straight into the back of an Austin Healey. With one minute to go the intensity reached a fever pitch as the entire top ten separated by less than two seconds. A breathless Official Practice session was brought to an end after a brief meeting with the wall at the Chicane for the Ferrari 250 GT SWB/C of Vincent Gaye and Joe Twyman, as the field cooled down ahead of the main event on Friday evening.

When is the 2026 Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy?

This stunning grid of early-1960s icons will first head out for an Official Practice session at 10:00 on Friday. Following a massive update to the Revival schedule, the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy will now take place on Friday evening, serving as the final on-track action of the day. The flag for this 45-minute race will drop at 18:25, meaning we’ll be able to enjoy these iconic machines tear through the corners under the fading twilight, bringing a whirlwind first day of the Goodwood Revival to an atmospheric close. 

Who’s competing in the 2026 Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy? 

The 2026 Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy boasts an extraordinary line-up of international racing icons and champion drivers. ‘Mr. Le Mans’ Tom Kristensen will make his first appearance of the weekend here, while five-time Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro will be challenging at the front. They’re set to be joined by former World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff, racing brothers Max and Tom Chilton, and returning fan-favourites including Formula 1 Champion Jenson Button, Dario Franchitti and Karun Chandhok. 

Which cars are competing in the 2026 Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy? 

The grid is a beautiful, multi-million-pound rolling museum of early 1960s GT machinery. Breathtaking Ferrari 250 GT SWBs — the model Moss loved most — and svelte Jaguar E-types will lead the charge. They’ll be sharing the track with ultra-rare Aston Martin DB4GTs and a special Mercedes-Benz 300 SL ‘Gullwing’, among a booming fleet of other historic beauties to accompany them on the grid.
