And what a lot of action there was. We jumped headlong into the racing with the Formula Junior cars of the Chichester Cup, offering one of the most varied lineups of the weekend, with cars like the U2 Mk2 and Apache duelling for a victory in a race that started damp and finished very wet.
Conditions were still damp when the Sussex Trophy got underway, with World Championship sportscars and production sports-racing cars vying for position in a contest that had to be red-flagged after an oil spill on track sent several cars onto the grass. Olly Bryant's Lotus 15 and the Jaguar D-Type of Chris Ward would battle it out for victory from the restart.
The Settrington Cup presented by Ralph Lauren pedal-car race was no less competitive, and that was followed by an interview with someone who knows a thing or two about hard racing: Derek Bell, a five-time Le Mans winner, as the Alfa Romeo parade made its way out on track.
The weather stayed (mostly) dry for Part 2 of the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy as the beginning of the race saw a tight battle between Dan Jackson and Glen English, their duelling allowing Mark Taylor to catch up, making it a three-bike race.
Sunday saw the Revival commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, which marked the end of World War II in Europe, with a street party taking over the track reminiscent of the jubilant scenes that erupted on that special day.
Then came the much-anticipated RAC TT Celebration. The dry conditions favoured the powerful AC Cobras, but after Afschin Fatemi's Tojeiro-Ford EE Coupe had a heavy shunt into the barriers, the race was subjected to a lengthy red flag. By the time the racing resumed the heavens had opened, and the delicate handling Jaguar E-Types were the cars to be in over the blunt force of the AC Cobras. And, with a driver change further murkying the waters, the race was everyone's to play for.
The weather hadn't improved in time for the Richmond & Gordon Trophies as dark skies saturated the track, forcing the race for 1950s Formula 1 cars — both mid- and front-engined – to start behind the safety car, before the final race of the event, Part 2 of the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul, rounded out a spectacular weekend of action at the 2025 Goodwood Revival.
