Video: Smith & Sniff explore FOS Future Lab 2025

As part of their travels across the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, Jonny Smith and Richard Porter, also known as Smith & Sniff, stopped by at FOS Future Lab presented by Randox to learn more about the technologies of tomorrow.

The exhibitors at the 2025 FOS Future Lab were more interactive than ever, so who better than Smith & Sniff to explore them? Starting with some of the outside attractions, like the Certo Aerospace uncrewed aerial vehicles, which we’re well informed by our hosts acts as a cross between helicopters and drones to provide medical assistance or deliver humanitarian supplies to those most in need, most often in places had to reach for other vehicles.

Once inside the pair get stuck in, from the depths of the oceans to soaring through the skies, learning about the work of the Seabed 2030 project to map the entire ocean floor in the next five years, to Jonny trying out the Birdly VR flight simulator to take a trip to the Moon — though not without a few close encounters with some craters.

Robotics played a big role at FOS Future Lab, as Smith & Sniff found out stepping into the pen of Spot, Boston Dynamics’ robo-dog. It’s usually used to tackle terrains people can’t thanks to its LiDAR-enhanced navigation capabilities, but Jonny and Richard couldn’t help but be a little unsettled by it.

Lastly, they meet Ameca, the humanoid robot ready to answer pressing questions like “how many Morris Marinas were sold” and to “raise the roof” — an experience they describe as both freaky and fascinating.

FOS Future Lab 2025 was an incredible showcase of the technologies shaping our world. It’s always a must-see at the Festival of Speed, but if you couldn’t make it this year then Smith & Sniff have you covered with these highlights.
