Just 47.14 seconds was all the Koenigsegg needed to gobble up the 1.16-mile sliver of tarmac that makes up the Hill. While some cars hide their performance surprisingly well, the 1,625PS (1,195kW) Swede amplifies it with a rumbling V8 soundtrack and a whistling turbocharger chorus, the car’s nose visibly lifting as driver Markus Lundh buries the loud pedal into the Koenigsegg’s carbon fibre tub.
Developing huge traction off the start line, Sadair’s Spear demolishes the first and second corners, sending up a rooster tail of dust and straw blades before seconds later it's disappeared into the woods, the noise of its V8 reverberating off the Goodwood’s famous slate wall.
And, just like that, it’s all over, the car taking the chequered flag moments later, in a time 4.05 seconds faster than the next production road car in the Timed Shoot-Out, the Ford Mustang GTD. Interestingly, the Koenigsegg made up all its time in the last sector, leaving us to wonder just how much faster it could be. For now, though, here’s it is setting its scintillating record. Blink and you’ll miss it!
