Proving the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is still a world-famous location for showing off an all-new car to the world for the first time, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N has made its global debut on the Hill.

Following in the wheel tracks of the Ioniq 5 N, the Ioniq 6 N is on the one hand a sensible family car and on the other an unhinged lunatic that could probably give you whiplash if it accelerated at full pace.

The Ioniq 6 N uses an 84kW battery and two electric motors (one front, one rear) to put down 609PS (448kW) to the road, or 650PS (478kW) with boost mode. Zero to 62mph takes 3.2 seconds and the top speed is 160mph. Plus there are features like the ‘N Grin Boost’, which maximizes acceleration for ten seconds, as well as the N Drift Optimiser, which allows the driver to have a safety net when sliding or programme in ideal parameters, like the drift angle and how much wheelspin you get.

It’s an intense aural experience, the Festival of Speed. Road and racing cars and bikes aren’t the quietest of creations. A car like the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is probably something of a relief for anyone who spends lots of time near the Hill. Then again, its lack of sound doesn’t mean a lack of performance…
