Proving our spectrum of motorsport spreads from the sublime to the ridiculous, you’ll find Daniel Ricciardo completing his ‘handbrake’ Hillclimb, taking his Renault Megane Trophy R to the finish line with the back brakes locked, and the car mostly sideways for the length of the course.
If you’ve got new cars to sell, nothing says ‘buy me’ quite as well as a sprinkling of Formula 1 driver magic, as the likes of Fernando Alonso in an Aston Martin Valiant and Mika Häkkinen in a McLaren Solus GT take their turns up the hill.
Esteban Gutiérrez brings another angle: the former F1 driver tackles the Hill in a road car based closely on Formula 1 — the Mercedes-AMG One, with a hybridised turbocharged engine, active aerodynamics, and a top speed of 218mph.
One of the most poignant moments comes as Bruno Senna takes the McLaren Senna, named in honour of his uncle, Ayrton, up the Hill, showing the crowds exactly what the car’s crazy aero is capable of.
British drivers are out in force, including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Lando Norris, Damon Hill and Derek Bell.
So, whether you want to watch Norris scream up the Hill in a McLaren M8D, or see Hamilton put the McLaren MP4 12C supercar through its paces, this video has got you covered.
