How do you celebrate 70 years of heritage? With a one-off rally inspired electric hatchback, of course. Meet the Alpine A290 Rallye.
First things first, Alpine has taken the standard and rather delightful A290 and added a full FIA-spec roll cage and Sabelt rally bucket seats. There are also new six-piston callipers and 350mm discs up front, and single-piston callipers and 280mm discs at the rear. There’s also a hydraulic handbrake, ALP Racing Suspension dampers and EVO Corse wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A tyres.
The powertrain is exactly as it is in the standard A290, meaning 223PS (164kW) and 300Nm (221lb ft) of torque going to the front wheels via one electric motor, but there’s now a ZF limited-slip differential, plus an external sound emitter that creates a noise that varies depending on the car’s speed and throttle position.
The good news is this isn’t a one off. You can buy the A290 Rallye for €59,990 (£52,000) excluding taxes, and Alpine will be organising a single-make rally event in France for owners before the end of 2025.
