Touring cars are a favourite around these parts and Saturday also had some of the coolest of tin tops in action. The likes of the Vauxhall Cavalier, the BMW Batmobile and an E46 M3 GTR took to the Hill before the Festival of Speed showed what it does best, bringing cars from all corners of the motoring world, with a modern Audi RS5 DTM closely followed by Colin McRae's iconic Subaru Impreza rally car.
Formula 1 was never far from the action as Goodwood celebrated the 75th anniversary of the F1 World Championship. Amongst the coverage, you'll find interviews with the likes of Adrian Newey, Oliver Bearman, Mika Häkkinen and Zak Brown. Cars backed up the names, with the likes of the McLaren M23, Emerson Fittipaldi’s Championship-winning machine, and Jack Brabham's 1966 title winner, the BT20, taking to the Hill.
They were followed by modern machines like the Sauber C32 and Ferrari F2000, before seven World Champions gathered on the balcony of Goodwood House. Just hearing from Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost, Jacques Villeneuve and Fittipaldi and Häkkinen one after the other in conversation with Karun Chandhok is worth watching all over again.
A standout moment, but it is just a taste of what you can expect to enjoy from more than nine hours of coverage from Saturday at the Festival of Speed.
