Admittedly, the chances of us forgetting about Gordon Murray’s V12-engine, carbon-fibre bodied, gold-lined supercar and Le Mans hero are vanishingly small – the great designer is taking centre stage as the subject of this year’s Central Feature – but just in case, here are 13 of our favourite ever McLaren F1 runs up the Hill.
This video has got everything for the McLaren F1 mega fan, with ‘long tail’ and short wheelbase cars, the 1993 XP3 prototype driven by Mika Häkkinen and the car that won Le Mans in 1995, driven in the wet and the dry with exterior shots or in-cabin footage and featuring liveries from the likes of Gulf and Harrods.
All that remains is to grab a comfy seat and prepare your ears to chow down on some of the best V12 music they’re ever likely to hear.
The 2025 Festival of Speed takes place on 10th-13th July. Friday and Saturday tickets are now sold out, but Thursday and limited Sunday tickets are still available.
