Our compilation delves deep into the archives, covering V10 engines from all eras including the Renault-powered Williams FW14 driven by Nigel Mansell to the 1992 Drivers’ and Constructors' Championship, and Mika Häkkinen's equally dominant Mercedes-powdered McLaren MP4/13 from 1998.
While some of our drivers go for neat laps, inch-perfect precision and fast times, others take a more entertaining approach to the Hillclimb, with smoky burnouts and ear-splitting V10 screams as the cars pummel off their rev limiters.
But the V10's vocal range makes it unique, gravelly before clearing its lungs to roar through the revs, interspersed with the rifle-bolt changes of a proper self-shifting gearbox. It’s a deafening lover affair for the ears, and a great advert for why this unique noise should return to F1.
You can see plenty more F1 action at 2025 Festival of Speed, where we shall be staging the biggest ever celebration of the sport in honour of 75 years of the World Championship.
The 2025 Festival of Speed takes place on 10th-13th July. Friday and Saturday tickets are now sold out, but Thursday and limited Sunday tickets are still available.
