Porsche has unveiled the Taycan and Cayenne Black Editions, kicking off Thursday at the 2025 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

The Taycan Black Edition and Cayenne Black Edition aren’t limited editions, they’re simply special editions with tweaks inside and out, and an added splash of luxury. But to 99 per cent of people on the street, Black Edition will sound inconceivably cool and exclusive.

So, what do you get? Starting with the Taycan, you can have your Black Edition as a saloon in Sport Turismo guise, and each car has black window surrounds, black name badges and black wing mirrors. On the inside, there’s a black interior accent package and black-brushed illuminated aluminium door sills.

With the Cayenne Black Edition, available with both the SUV and coupé, you get black door mirrors, black window trim, a black model badge and a black Porsche badge. Inside there’s some truly delightful black brushed aluminium.

You’d be understandably miffed if that was all that distinguished the two Black Editions, so you can breathe a sigh of relief that there’s more to these cars than some black detailing. Inside both models as standard is black interior leather trim, 14-way adjustable front Comfort Seats, a Bose Surround Sound System with Dolby Atmos and LED door projectors throwing the Porsche logo onto the ground when you open the door. The Taycan gets extra kudos for having a ‘Black Edition’ badge on the centre console.

Outside on both cars you’ll notice HD Matrix LED headlights (tinted on the Cayenne) and 21-inch wheels. You’ll also benefit from Surround View with Active Parking Assist, to help you avoid kerbing said wheels.

Despite what the name suggests, the Taycan Black Edition and Cayenne Black Edition do not have to be purchased in black, but that’s no bad thing. Black is of course available, but you can have various metallic finishes, like Volcano Grey Metallic and Dolomite Silver Metallic, or you can choose from any of the Porsche paint ‘categories’ or opt for Paint to Sample (spenny) or Paint to Sample Plus (more spenny).

The Taycan Black Edition is available with Taycan and Taycan 4S saloon models as well as the Taycan 4 and 4S Sport Turismo, all of which now come as standard with the Performance Battery Plus, which means a 105kWh gross battery good for 451 miles of range. The Cayenne, meanwhile, can be ordered with the base Cayenne, E-hybrid and S E-hybrid powertrain options.

As for the price, the Taycan Black Edition starts from £95,700, the Cayenne Black Edition from £88,900. We’ll take a Taycan Sport Turismo in Audrain Green Metallic, please.
