If you want to see a host of ultra-rare, super-cool metal, then the free-to-enter Goodwood Breakfast Club is the place to be, and this Ferrari 488 Pista 'Piloti Ferrari' proved that to be the case when it came along to the Taxed and Tasty themed event earlier this month. Factor in a coffee and a hot bap, and there can't be many better ways to worship at the automotive alter.
An even rarer version of Ferrari's junior, mid-engine track car, the Piloti ticked the box for the theme’s pre-1985 parameters, that being the cut-off date for tax exemption, and fitted right in to the GRRC Showcase for cars bearing Prancing Horse badges.
And when we say 'rare', we mean it. Some say just 40 Pilotis were made, others say over 100 left the factory. As you've probably gathered from the name, the Piloti was offered to (those frightfully lucky) Ferrari client drivers whose Ferrari investment goes somewhat further than the t-shirt and baseball cap the rest of us have.
Based on the Pista, it gets some of the decals worn by the 488 GTE race car that triumphed in 2017's World Endurance Championship and a bare carbon fibre spoiler. The inside got similar treatment with Italian flags, Alcantara and Il Tricolores galore.
All of which give you an idea of the calibre of machine you can expect to see at the upcoming Super Sunday Breakfast Club on 1st June, where we'll fly the flag for high-performance cars by welcoming the likes of the Bugatti Chiron to the Motor Circuit, while celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Porsche Carrera GT and 15 years of McLaren Automotives first mass-produced supercar, the MP4 12C.
If cool, rare cars are your thing (they are ours), then Breakfast Club is the place to be.
